BREW GUIDE

How to Brew the Perfect Cup of Tea

By Gayani Weerasinghe

To get the real taste, aroma and color, you need to start with fresh, cold water and use the correct brewing time. The ideal water pH should be 7 whether you are making a cup of green or black tea.

For black tea, heat the water until it boils. To make one cup you need a teaspoon of tea (small particles) and the ideal brewing time is 4-5 minutes. Then strain the tea into your cup! Drink it black or add a dash of milk and sugar…according to your taste.

For green tea, let the water cool down from the boil to about 190 degrees F. To make one cup you need also a teaspoon of tea (small particles) and the ideal brewing time is 2-3 minutes. Then strain the tea into your cup!
